Carter's XC Ski Center

420 Main Street

Dave Carter has over 40 years experience cross country skiing. He started on the Gould Academy X-C ski team, with noted coach, Paul Kailey, and went on to compete on the U. Maine X-C ski team. Paul Kailey eventually hired Dave to start the Sunday River Ski Touring Center. He was one of 4 Mainers who helped start the Jackson Ski Touring Center, in Jackson, NH.

"We have excellent snow here," says Dave. "The conditions here are pretty much perfect ." He's also working to promote more back-country skiing. "If you're an alpine skier, you'll like our hills. We have elevation," he says. "But if you're not, we have flat, too."

What a great place! The trails are nicely groomed and go over beautiful terrain. What a great place to spend a weekend skiing with the family. The owner is a great person. Really nice and very friendly. I plan on visiting again very soon.

Bought a pair of back country ski boots for $84 on sale. The first time I wore them, (the day after I bought them) the fabric disintegrated. I called Carters, but Jesse at Carters indicated that they were out of warranty, the manufacturer would likely not do anything and therefore Carters wouldn't either. They didn't tell me this when I bought them. Don't ever buy anything here. Buy at REI or LL Bean where they don't sell junk and stand behind their merchandise.
